EverPresent: Best for choice
EverPresent is one of the largest scanning services in the US, and probably one of the best services you`ll get when you're getting your old photos digitized. The quality of the scans here are some of the highest we've seen, and while you do have to pay slightly more than average (certainly not much more) what you get back is well worth the money. Slides and photos are $0.59 per scan, although delicate photos run to $1.99 per scan. Albums can be scanned per page too, starting at $2.99 per page.
EverPresent offers services to scan photos, slides, negatives, old film, and some of the more obscure film formats too. This will improve the quality of your scan and return it to you with courier delivery. Digital files can be downloaded to DVD, USB, or hosted for free on a personal website for 90 days. It's a great service with all the features you need. Shipping is pretty quick too, and if you live in 3 states you can send your photos to the physical store or use a pick-up service.
We also like the extra features EverPresent has to offer. We suggest designing and creating photo albums based on your scans and organizing your existing digital photos. Again, the cost may increase, but I believe it's better to spend the money and get the job done than not getting great results from a cheaper, less comprehensive service. Our only real problem is the lack of clarity about the digitization process and when to complete it, and we haven't found customer service as helpful as other vendors. But the end result is great.
