Excel/VBA for Creative Problem Solving Specialization Offered By University of Colorado Boulder is for students who want to use Excel spreadsheets in a completely new way by learning how to automate and optimize them using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The first two courses will use dozens of educational screencasts, quizzes, and in-application programming tasks to teach learners the fundamentals of VBA. Finally, in Part 3 of the course, students will complete three "real world" and relatively open-ended projects that will be judged by peers.
Learners will complete one easy project (from a list of two options), one intermediate project (from a list of two options), and a third, mandatory Monte Carlo simulation project (intermediate in difficulty). Real-Time Currency Converter, Geography Toolbox, Ultimate Organizer, Regression Toolbox, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Grade Manager are just a few of the projects.
