Félix Houphout-Boigny University, located in the village of Cocody, east of Abidjan, is often regarded as the best university in Côte d’Ivoire. Cocody University was the former name.

From 1964 to 1996, it was the main campus of the University of Abidjan, which thereafter became an independent university. It is a state-owned and run institution accountable to the Ministry of Education.
