Fetter Health Care Network Dental Center
Fetter Mobile Unit is a professional, family-run general dental clinic serving patients in Berkeley, Colleton, Charleston, and Dorchester counties. It is headquartered at the Charleston Family Health Center in downtown Charleston. The friendly staff of their dental team will bring you a smile before, during and after your regular dental procedures. The department receives funding from HHS and has recognized Federal Public Health Service (PHS) status for itself and for individuals for certain health-related claims, including malpractice claims. Fetter Health Care Network (formerly Franklin C. The Vetter Family Health Center was originally established at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as a pilot project with funding from the Federal Office of Economic Opportunity. It was created to provide a full range of health care services to low-income families in Charleston.
This project eventually became a community health center under Section 330 of the Federal Regulations, Public Code 9564. Fetter is the oldest federally qualified medical center in South Carolina. In 1975, Fetter was registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in South Carolina.
Initial funding came from Dr. Franklin K. Fetter (Former MUSC Dean), Father Henry Grant (Community Organizer), former South Carolina Senator Herbert W. Fielding, former US Senator Ernest F. Hollings, and Mr. .Arthur Brown (Community Leader).
In 2017, Fetter Health Care Network celebrated 50 years of providing affordable, high-quality primary care and dental services.
