Fossil Creek Falls
Fossil Creek Falls is a series of waterfalls located in the Coconino National Forest in central Arizona, United States. The falls are formed by Fossil Creek, a spring-fed stream that flows through a scenic canyon and drops over a series of terraced rocks to create several cascades and pools.
The main waterfall at Fossil Creek Falls is about 20 feet tall and is surrounded by lush vegetation, including ferns, mosses, and wildflowers. The water in the pools and cascades is a bright blue-green color, due to the high concentration of minerals in the water.
To reach Fossil Creek Falls, visitors must hike for about 4 miles from the Fossil Springs Trailhead, passing through a beautiful forest and following the creek as it meanders through the canyon. The trail is considered moderate in difficulty, with some steep sections and rocky terrain.
Fossil Creek Falls is a popular destination for hikers, swimmers, and photographers, offering a picturesque and refreshing escape from the desert heat. The falls are also home to a variety of wildlife, including fish, birds, and mammals, and are considered an important habitat for native plants and animals. Visitors are encouraged to respect the natural environment and to follow Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the area for future generations.
