Frank Leder
Frank Leder has been a top designer for many years as well as one of the most famous fashion designers from Germany thanks to his meticulous attention to handcrafted manufacturing procedures and his amazing love with vintage blankets and antique buttons. Since his first collection in 1999, he has gained critical recognition for his reflections on German history, which is an important part of his heritage. In Japan, his clothing is accessible at notable Japanese multi-brand stores such as 1LDK and International Gallery BEAMS.
His outfits are steeped in German history, with nods to everything from workwear to traditional men's tailoring. Personal histories of his father and grandfather, as well as subcultures of traditional German society such as protesting students, small town fire departments, and working men, are among the collection themes. His products are also made in Germany, with several native German fabrics and textiles, such as Deutschleder and Schladminger, becoming hallmark items for the Frank Leder design name.
Frank Leder also works and collaborates with Gregor Hohenberg, a German photographer. Leder also creates limited edition furniture, design objects, and interiors for select clients. Leder also gives guest lectures at universities across Germany. Modern Menswear and 100 New Fashion Designers, both published by Hywel Davies, have showcased him and his work.
