GACHON UNIVERSITY GIL MEDICAL CENTER
Gachon University Gil Medical Center, a multispecialty hospital, is regarded as one of Asia's best. The hospital was once advertised as a gynecological center, but it was later changed to a multidisciplinary institute. In 2014, South Korea's Ministry of Health named the institute as the finest in the country for medical research and development. JCI has given the Gil hospital its seal of approval (an international certificate of this kind has been awarded to only 200 clinics around the world). The clinic is unusual in that it is the first in the country to provide medical evacuation services, as well as the best cancer center and the first regional traumatology center in Korea.
In the clinic's nearly 30 departments, there are 2 647 staff, 245 of them are doctors. The hospital sees 400 000 outpatients and over 1 million inpatients each year. According to records, Gil Medical Center does over 25 000 surgical operations each year.
