Samsung Medical Center is one of the world's most highly advanced medical facilities. This clinic, which opened in 1994, was the first to employ a unique "patient-oriented" philosophy. The Samsung medical facility became known around the world after 20 years of operation. It has won first place in the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) rating 14 times, 16 times in the value of the Korean Customer Satisfaction Index (KCSI), 12 times in a row in the Quality of Service Index (KS-SQI), and 12 times as Korea's primary medical brand.
Samsung's medical center consists of three buildings: the main building, an expansion, and an oncology clinic. In addition, the Proton Center opened in 2014, as did the "Ilvon" building and the Outpatient Treatment Center, all of which are scheduled to open in 2019. The clinic's main building is 200 thousand square meters in size, with 20 elevated stories and five basement floors. There are 40 departments, 10 specialized centers, 120 specialty clinics, and 1,306 beds in the clinic. The Samsung Oncology Center occupies a 19-story skyscraper (11 above ground and 8 underground) with a total size of almost 100,000 m2. The cancer center has a total of 655 beds.
