Garvan Woodland Gardens
Welcome to the University of Arkansas's botanical garden, Garvan Woodland Gardens. The Gardens are a wonderful gift to all people from local industrialist and philanthropist Verna Cook Garvan, and are nestled in the picturesque Ouachita Mountains of Southwest Arkansas.
Garvan Woodland Gardens exemplifies The Natural State at its finest, with a canopy of pines reaching skyward to protect delicate flora and fauna, gentle lapping waves that unfold along the 4 12 miles of wooded shoreline, and rocky inclines that evoke the Ouachita Mountains.
The mission of Garvan Woodland Gardens is to preserve and enhance a unique part of the Ouachita environment, to provide people with a place of learning, research, cultural enrichment, and serenity, and to create and maintain exceptional gardens, landscapes, and structures.
