Genghis Khan
No list of the top kings in the world would be complete without Genghis Khan. Originally named Temujin from Borjigin, he was born into the Khan tribe. His father was murdered when he was quite young. Cast aside on the brink of eternity, he returns to reclaim his tribe. After that, he roamed and won many lands stretching as far as Afghanistan and northern China. He conquered more lands than any other king in history. He was survived by his clan, who embarked on the unification of China.
Genghis Khan definitely deserves to be on the awesome monarchs' list every historian should know. Genghis Khan conquered Afghanistan and northern China. Mongol leader Genghis Khan rose from humble beginnings to establish the largest land empire in history. After uniting the nomadic tribes on the Mongolian plateau, he conquered large swaths of Central Asia and China. His descendants expanded the empire even further, reaching places as far away as Poland, Vietnam, Syria, and Korea. At its height, the Mongols controlled between 11 and 12 million contiguous square miles, an area about the size of Africa. Many people were massacred during Genghis Khan's invasion, but he also granted religious freedom to his subjects, abolished torture, encouraged commerce, and created the first international postal system. Genghis Khan died in 1227 during a military campaign against the Chinese kingdom.
