Gentle Monster

Gentle Monster is a Korean eyewear brand founded in 2011 by Hankook Kim in Seoul, Republic of Korea. While Kim founded Gentle Monster, his research showed that the eyeglasses industry had a need because Western facial shapes were taken into account when creating eyewear. According to Kim, South Koreans love having small faces, therefore by designing large glasses with low bridge noses, he filled a market gap that was ideal for the specific and intricate needs of his initial clientele.

In addition to being financially successful domestically, the company now directly owns and operates over 40 locations. Metal and acetate are the primary components utilized to make Gentle Monster's eyewear, which is then fashioned into a variety of shapes and colors season after season.
