GETTING AROUND IN SEYCHELLES

If you're planning a vacation to Seychelles, you're probably not going to visit just one island. An island-hopping vacation that includes stays on two or more islands is the ideal way to experience everything this amazing destination has to offer. Knowing how to get to the islands and how to get around each one is vital for arranging your trip. Learn all there is to know about Seychelles ferries, internal flights, car and bike rentals, taxis, and private transport.

Almost all tourists to Seychelles come by plane to Mahé International Airport. The main Seychelles islands (Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue) are linked by boat, and there is also a flying connection between Mahé and Praslin. Other islands are generally smaller and only have one lodging, which provides private transportation by boat, aircraft, or helicopter for their visitors. Silhouette, Bird, and Denis Island are a few examples.

A rented automobile is the best method to navigate Mahé and Praslin. You may also take public transportation. The best way to get to La Digue is via bike. Taxis are available on Mahé and Praslin (and to a lesser extent on La Digue). There are no roads on the other islands, which generally only have one hotel or resort; residents travel about on foot or by bike. Sometimes the resorts on these islands use electric or motor vehicles to carry clients over greater distances or on paths that are inaccessible by foot.
