GFriend
The fifth K-pop girl group is GFriend. GFriend is a 6-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, Sinb, and Umji. They debuted on January 15, 2015 with the Season of Glass EP. GFriend received several awards for Rookie of the Year in 2015, gaining momentum after their debut despite being a small company. In addition, GFriend was the first to be interviewed by a female group at the Grammy Mini Masterclass, an interview series hosted by the Grammy Museum Prudential Experience Center in the US. In this interview, artists and music industry experts, the musicians talk about music, affecting youth.
Their popularity led to a series of Grammy mini masterclass interviews, where they spoke in their field to influence young people. LOL, Awakening, Snowflake, Parallel, Rainbow, Time for the Moon Night, Sunny Summer, Time For Us, and Fever Season have won acclaim and praise from pop music lovers around the world. Their last studio album broke up after Walpurgis Night in 2020. Their album sales increased after each release. In 2020, GFriend were named in the top 5 K-pop girl groups of that year.
