Gong Cave

The most magnificent cave in Pacitan is Goa Gong or Gong Cave, which is also believed to be the most incredible cave on Java Island and even in Southeast Asia. This is due to the cave's rarity, which makes it more valuable than any other cave on Java Island. The stalactite and stalagmite at Gong Cave are believed to be the most magnificent in Southeast Asia. It has a depth of roughly 256 meters and five pools: Rogo Pool, Panguripan Pool, Jiwo Pool, Kamulyan Pool, and Ralung Nisto Pool, all of which have mystical healing properties.

Goa Gong is located within the Gong-Gongan Mountain, in Pule Hamlet, Bromo Village, Punung Subdistrict, Pacitan. It's around 37 kilometers west of Pacitan's downtown area. The name Goa Gong comes from the Stalactites and Stalagmites that, when struck, produce a sound similar to that of a classic Javanese instrument, the Gong. It's relatively easy to get to Goa Gong, and it's even easier if you travel from Yogyakarta (Wonosari) or Solo, Central Java. The road is spacious and pleasant to travel on. The site becomes tight after passing through the village road, and now is the moment to slow down the automobiles.

Every Friday, on certain days, a sound called "Jaranan" will be heard (traditional gong). Goa Gong, on the other hand, has some open spaces in the form of a gigantic dome that is around 100 meters long, 15-40 meters wide, and 20-30 meters high. The entrance cave is in the form of a small hallway filled of Stalactites and Stalagmites that connect the entrence and dome caves.
