Groupe Renault is a long-standing French multinational automobile manufacturer that was established over a century ago in 1899. As one of the largest manufacturing companies in France, the company has diversified its product line, producing a range of vehicles from cars and vans to trucks, tractors, tanks, buses, aircraft, and aircraft engines. According to the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, Renault was the ninth biggest automaker in the world by production volume in 2016.
Groupe Renault is headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, and is comprised of several subsidiaries, including Alpine, Renault Sport, Automobile Dacia, and Renault Korea Motors. The company also owns subsidiaries RCI Banque, Renault Retail Group, and Motrio, and has various joint ventures, including Oyak-Renault and Renault Pars.
Groupe Renault is known for its significant role in motorsport, particularly rallying, Formula 1, and Formula E. The company has also been involved in pioneering work in computer graphics, particularly in mathematical curve modeling for car bodies.
Groupe Renault is committed to sustainability and invested heavily in electric vehicles in collaboration with Nissan, resulting in over 273,000 electric vehicles sold worldwide as of December 2019. The company has also divested its shareholding in AvtoVAZ to the Government of Russia in response to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
