Have Antiviral Property
Proanthocyanins discovered in lychee seeds have antiviral capabilities, according to research from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. These antiviral characteristics can help to prevent the spread of diseases such as the flu, herpes simplex illness, mono, and the disease that causes hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Litchitannin A2, a lychee chemical, has been linked to suppressing the transmission or breakout of viruses such as herpes simplex virus and coxsackievirus.
While the tests were done on seeds, and large pharma may soon be producing medications off of seed chemicals, ingesting the seeds is not advised. Clearly, the best strategies to avoid infection are to wash your hands regularly and to avoid touching your face. Taking everything into account, eating multiple lychees couldn't hurt.
