Hiking in Fiescher Glacier
At over 15 kilometers, the Fiescher Glacier is the second-longest in the Alps. It is one of the gems of the "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" UNESCO World Heritage Site, which preserves the most glaciated territory in the Alps. There are nine peaks exceeding 4,000 meters in the reserve, including the majestic Finsteraarhorn (4,273 meters), which looms high above the glacier. This exciting journey climbs the hills above Bellwald to a vantage point with a stunning outlook up the ice river. The track then returns to the starting point by a different path a few hundred meters higher, with superb views over the upper Rhône valley.
A leisurely chairlift ride from Bellwald takes hikers to the hike's starting point at Richenen. With its welcoming mountain restaurant, lake, and adventure track for small children, this is a favorite sport for families. A play ship near the lake, a tree house, a slide, musical instruments, skill tests, and a research station enable young tourists to learn about the local flora and animals.
