Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited (HSIL) - Hindware
The Somany family (promoter group) formed Hindustan Twyfords Ltd. in 1960 to market vitreous china ceramic sanitaryware to India in partnership with Twyfords Ltd., UK. In 1969, the company changed its name to Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited, and has been known as 'HSIL' ever since. The name of the corporation was changed to HSIL Limited in March 2009.
Today, the firm is India's most well-known sanitaryware maker. It diversified into the manufacture of glass containers in 1981 when it bought Associated Glass Industries Limited. It expanded its product line to include a variety of bathroom and kitchen appliance products, leveraging the Hindware brand's strength.
Through a wholly owned subsidiary called Hindware Home Retail Pvt. Ltd., it entered the retail market of Speciality Home Interior Solutions in 2007. (HHRL). The company's first store, under the "EVOK" name, opened in May 2008.
