Hinkson Christian Academy
Hinkson Christian Academy (HCA) is a private Christian school for both boys and girls. It's located in Southwestern Moscow, Russia, and teaches kids from kindergarten to 12th grade. At HCA, almost all classes are in English, except foreign language classes. For older 11th and 12th-grade students, there are particular AP (Advanced Placement) and honors courses they can take.
The school has 22 classrooms, a computer room, an art room, a music room, a fully equipped science lab, unique rooms for ESL (English as a Second Language) and extra learning support, a library, and a gym with a weight room and locker rooms. The average size for a high school class is about ten students.
HCA started in the fall of 1991 as a New Life Christian School in Moscow. It was made for the children of local Christian families from other countries. It began with just nineteen kids and three teachers in a room they rented from a Russian school. The first group of students graduated in the 1994–1995 school year. That same year, HCA got official approval from the Russian government. On September 5, 1996, the school officially started its 1996–1997 school year in a building that used to be a Russian kindergarten.
In 2000, HCA moved to a more prominent building and added new programs like ESL and Resource Education. The number of students grew to over 200 annually, with more than 60 full-time and part-time staff. The high school offers a college preparatory curriculum for grades 9 through 12, including AP and honors courses. Hinkson Christian Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Middle States Accreditation of Colleges and Schools in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
