Moscow Economic School
Moscow Economic School (MES) is a private, non-governmental IB World School. It was the first of its kind and has grown into one of Russia's most prominent private schools. Today, MES has 600 students, both boys and girls, aged 3 to 18, and over 300 employees.
MES is a bilingual school teaching in both English and Russian. Students can take part in different international tests to show what they know. Starting from the second grade, they also begin learning a second foreign language, choosing from German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, or French. MES students can take exams to get international certificates, including French, Spanish, and German exams.
The teachers at MES are experts in both Russian and international education. Some are even trainers for the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), teaching other teachers how to work in IB programs. Also, MES has teachers who are international examiners; they check the diploma and exam papers of students from IB schools all over the world. The Teaching Career Center (TCC) at MES significantly improves teaching skills, offering weekly classes for teachers.
MES offers a range of after-school clubs, like modern dance and art. The brightest students join groups or honor societies based on their subjects. Many students, teachers, and parents are involved in the MES Charity Foundation. This foundation helps rehabilitation centers for disabled children, orphanages, prominent families, and war and labor veterans and supports families of repressed citizens in the Presnensky district.
