Hope Africa University
Hope Africa University (HAU) was founded in Karen, Kenya, in 2000 with the help of the Free Methodist Church. In December 2003, it relocated to Bujumbura. It had 110 pupils at the time. It is regarded as Burundi's top private institution, with the highest number of candidates each year. Prior to the 2015 civil unrest, HAU was Burundi's largest and fastest growing private university, with a peak enrollment of 1,700 students. This university is one of the Best Universities in Burundi.
Enrollment has been steadily increasing since 2015, with a major section of the student body coming from neighboring Central African countries. Sylvain Nzohabonayo was the rector of HAU until 2017, when he was succeeded by Dr. Victor Barantota (PhD Special Education). Denise Bucumi Nkurunziza, the wife of former Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza, was among the religious, political, and corporate figures who attended HAU. In Bujumbura, Burundi, HAU is a Christian liberal arts university. Medicine, nursing, law, and agriculture are just a few of the faculties available. A dental school has been designed and equipped, however it is still looking for professors to handle clinical didactic and practice supervision as of 2020.
