Hotel Elysée
The Elysée Hotel was built in 1926 by Swiss-born Max Haering who desired a hotel in the European style. It was named for the poshest French restaurant in the area at the time. Visit the iconic Monkey Bar, a former mafia hangout that was renovated in 1995 by David Rockwell. A hotel has a significant history overall.
This historic 1920s hotel, which is two blocks from Fifth Avenue shopping, three blocks from the Museum of Modern Art, and six blocks from Central Park, has Old World-inspired decor choices.
