HP

With its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, the Hewlett-Packard company, usually referred to as Hewlett-Packard or HP, was a multinational American information technology company. It is also one of the largest manufacturing companies in USA. HP developed and provided a vast array of hardware parts, software, and related services for consumers, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), large organizations, and clients in the government, health, and education sectors.

HP dominated the PC industry from 2007 to the second quarter of 2013, when Lenovo overtook HP. In addition to developing hardware for networking, computing, and data storage, HP also concentrated on developing software and offering services. Among the main product categories were personal computers, business and industry standard servers, related storage devices, networking equipment, software, and a variety of printers and other imaging products. The business promoted its goods directly to consumers, small- to medium-sized businesses, enterprises, software partners, consumer electronics and office supply retailers, as well as through internet distribution. For its own products and those of its partners, it also provided consultancy services.

One of the few prosperous businesses that have endured the test of time and are still fully operational after 84 years is HP. The major factor in the company's longevity is its capacity for adaptation to the changing times. In the beginning, HP was a voltmeter company, then it was a microwave company (during the 1940s and 1950s), then it was a calculator company (around the 1960s), and now it is a computer and technology company. HP transformed its businesses over time by purchasing a number of firms.
