Wazo Imura, the company's founder, became interested in Japanese confectionery and attempted to make "Yokan", a Japanese jelly made of Azuki bean paste. IMURAYA CO., LTD. has grown from a small family business to a fully pledged corporation. It was established by the eldest son, Jiro Imura, and twenty-one of his fellow soldiers.
