Integrative Health and Medicine specialization
This specialty will give you with the information and skills you need to help your patients or clients manage diseases or symptoms including pain and anxiety. You'll learn about integrative therapies including herbal medicine, guided imagery, aromatherapy, and mindfulness in these five classes. You will learn how to assess if a therapy is appropriate for each one you study, as well as how to: educate patients or consumers about the advantages and disadvantages of various treatments. Administer the therapy or provide advice on how to utilize it, and assess if it was effective (our AEAE approach).
You will be knowledgeable with application techniques, mechanisms of action, and research evidence for various treatments, as well as safety and quality issues, by the completion of this specialty. In other words, you'll be prepared to work with patients to design an integrated treatment plan that meets their requirements and preferences. While the knowledge is primarily geared toward dealing with patients or clients, it is also directly useful to your personal health and well-being.
This specialization's courses each feature a peer-reviewed project that applies integrative treatments to a specific scenario. To begin, assess what is required to integrate integrative treatments into your business or other situation. Later courses will have you researching the benefits and risks of specific herbal medicines and essential oils for specific patients or clients, creating a guided imagery recording, and making recommendations for herbal medicines, aromatherapy, guided imagery, and mindfulness practice based on evidence and patient preferences. Throughout, the emphasis will be on identifying patient needs and providing clear, uncomplicated, and patient-centered education and advice.
