Established in 1920, the International School of Manila (ISM) has emerged as a leading educational institution, providing private education to students from kindergarten to grade 12, including many nationalities. The school year is structured into two semesters for grades 6-12 and a three-month schedule for kindergarten through 5th grade, running from mid-August to early June, ensuring a comprehensive and dynamic learning experience.

ISM
is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization with a Department of Education charter. It is run by a 10-member Board of Directors that is chosen by its sponsoring association, International School Inc., for three-year terms. The curriculum at ISM is rooted in American educational principles with a focus on college preparation. However, the school continuously expands its curriculum to incorporate global best practices.

Teaching is conducted in English and other languages including Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Filipino. ISM stands out by offering both International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement degree courses, ensuring a comprehensive and globally relevant educational experience.

With a faculty of 157 full-time and 11 part-time members, including U.S. citizens, ISM emphasizes the diversity and expertise of its faculty. The school's commitment to academic support is demonstrated through the Optimal Learning Center (OLC), which provides a comprehensive model for students with learning needs and inclusion within the school's educational framework.

At the start of the 2000-2001 school year, ISM's enrollment was 1,868, including students from kindergarten through 12th grade from many different countries. Furthermore, the school is connected to the Internet through a dedicated line, and a robust computer literacy program is supported through 800 computers from kindergarten to grade 12.

ISM
plans to move to a new facility in Fort Bonifacio, spanning over 67,000 square meters, signaling its commitment to grow with the ever-changing global education landscape. Manila International School continues to be a symbol of educational excellence, fostering a rich and rigorous academic environment for students from all walks of life.
