Isla Margarita
Margarita and its neighboring islands are fantastic diving destinations, not only because of the abundance of fish, coral, and plants but also because of the high quality of the water, with 48 percent of Margarita protected. There are numerous diving sites on Margarita Island, some of which are breathtakingly gorgeous and others that are not. El Farallon, a massive rock hidden in the ocean at a depth of 14 meters, is one of the top dive sites. A diverse range of maritime plants can be found here. La Ballena and el Murrical are also worth visiting. The Archipelago Los Frailes is located 12 kilometers from the Margarita Islands and consists of nine islands, six of which are ideal for diving for both expert and novice divers. The Pecha, Payape, Punta, Cominoto, and Hell are some of the places to visit. Many of them have crumbling walls and little platforms. You can certainly witness 2m Barracuda, Octopus, sea turtles, and Congers in this area.
The state of Nueva Esparta includes Margarita, Coche Island, and Cubagua Island. Cubagua Island is located between Margarita and the continent. Although it is a small island, it is the only spot in all of Margarita where you may dive a shipwreck and view dolphins in their natural habitat. Coche Island is akin to a mini-Margarita Island, having some of the state's nicest beaches. Malaria, cholera, rabies, and typhoid are all present in these islands, so immunization against all of them is recommended as a precaution. Dive sites: Pueroto Real, Cominoto el Hoyo, Cominoto el Velero, Farallon, Ichao el Tunal, La Pecha, La Pecha Afuera, La Penia, Punta Payape.
