Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight has been crowned the most beautiful island in Britain, with thousands of Instagram uploads each year. While there may not be many people going there at the moment, it is famous for its mild climate, coastal scenery, and verdant field landscape.
Referred to as 'Island' by residents, this resort island has been a popular holiday destination since Victorian times. It is also known for its mild climate, coastal scenery, verdant landscapes, plains, and chines. Historically, the island is part of Hampshire, and it has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The island was once home to the Algernon poets Charles Swinburne and Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and Queen Victoria, who built the summer residence and eventual home of Osborne House at East Cowes on the Isle. It has a maritime and industrial tradition in British boat building, sail making, flying boat production, seaplanes, and space rockets. The island hosts music festivals every year, including the Isle of Wight Festival, which in 1970 was the largest rock event ever held. [6] It has well-preserved wildlife and some of the richest cliffs and quarries for dinosaur fossils in Europe.
