Jindo

Jindo Island, which lies in South Jeolla Province, is somewhat off the main road but still has a lot to offer. Discover the more than 1,700 islands and islets that make up the Dadohae National Marine Park, some of which are home to small fishing communities. Alternately, review your Korean history at one of the city's numerous cultural landmarks. Admire the enormous bronze statue of renowned Admiral Lee Sun-shin atop the Great Jindo Bridge, which is located not far from the location where he decisively defeated the numerically superior Japanese invasion forces in the 16th century.

The Miracle Sea Road Festival, which honors an annual natural occurrence, may be Jindo's main attraction. Visitors can stroll along the 2.8-kilometer path that connects the main island to a smaller adjacent island while watching the sea strangely split. Even though it appears supernatural, the phenomenon is caused by the difference between high and low tides.
