Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology


Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is a public university in Juja, 36 kilometers northeast of Nairobi, off Exit 15 of the Nairobi-Thika SuperHighway. Technology, Engineering, Science, Commerce, Management, and Building Sciences are among the courses available. Biotechnology and engineering are two areas in which the institution is particularly interested in conducting research. Dr. Paul Chepkwony, the first Governor of Kenya's Kericho County and a former lecturer, Emma Miloyo, a prominent Kenyan architect and the first female President of the Architectural Association of Kenya, and Aden Duale, the former Leader of Majority in Kenya's 11th Parliament, are among the notable alumni.

Some students are eligible for subsidized housing provided by the university. Within the school grounds, there are six student hostels, three of which are occupied by males and three by females. Males occupy Halls 3, 5, and 6, while girls occupy Halls 1, 2, and 4. The Candle in the Wind, Main Mess, and Hall Six dining mess are the three student dining cafeterias. In the dining mess, the food is subsidized. Breakfast is offered from 6.30 to 8 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

features a library with a seating capacity of 600 students and a collection of 80,000 books. Online services, reference, inter library loan, user education, orientation, online information services, photocopying, binding, and repair are all available at the library.
