JYP Entertainment (엔터테인먼트) was founded in 1997 by South Korean singer-songwriter J.Y. Park as Tae-Hong Planning Corporation.
JYP Entertainment is known as one of the three companies currently leading the entertainment industry in Korea along with SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment. The company has searched and trained many talented artists to make a bold impression on the Kpop map. In 1997, the company signed its first artist, Pearl, and debuted as a solo artist. In 1999, SidusHQ introduced singer-songwriter and JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park as their main producer and advisor. It later changed its name to JYP Entertainment in 2001 and introduced the next independent artist Bi Rain a year later. JYP introduced the company's first group in late 2002, the group called Noel consisted of four members and released several albums but did not generate much attention. The company's focus is on the duo debuting next year, One Two, the group's dominant style towards Rap and Hip-hop genres.
Over the past 10 years, JYP Entertainment has been active in producing music as well as recruiting, training, and managing new artists. JYP Entertainment develops new models for its business system, continuously working to expand its business into online and mobile fields in both domestic and foreign markets. To speed up music production and nurture different types of music according to the wide range of artists in the company, various music genres and divisions were launched. Artists in the company are gathered and divided into different departments to speed up content production, thereby improving profitability.
