Kalmar Castle
Kalmar Castle or 'Kalmar Slott' is a medieval castle built around the twelfth century. Originally the castle had only a single tower, later Kalmar Castle has grown over time to become a mighty stronghold and castle.
A defense tower was constructed on the site in which Kalmar Castle now stands around 1180. The tower’s cause is to defend the place from assaults by pirates and different enemies. By the start of the 1200s, Kalmar became a city.
Kalmar Castle plays an irreplaceable role in Swedish history. Today, the castle has been completely restored to its original majestic beauty. It has thus become a tourist attraction and many lovers have chosen it as a wedding venue. The castle is home to a wide range of exhibitions, both permanent and temporary exhibitions with different themes. Visitors can also find around 400 texts, anecdotes, and stories. Texts are written in Swedish, English, and German.
