On April 26, 2021, Sotheby's set a new record with the $1.8 million private auctions of Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy Grammy Prototype from 2008.
According to Guinness World Records, they are the most expensive sneakers ever sold in a private sale.
Kanye West donned the all-black Nike Air Yeezy 1s during a Grammy Awards performance in 2008. Nike never sold the shoes, but they quickly became one of the most sought-after sample sneakers among collectors and the general public.
