Kingdom is a 2019 South Korean political period horror thriller streaming television series produced and written by Kim Eun-hee and based on the webtoon series The Kingdom of the Gods written and illustrated by Kim Eun-hee and artist Yang Kyung-il. It debuted on Netflix as the streaming service's first original Korean series on January 25, 2019. Joo Ji-hoon, Ryu Seung-ryong, Bae Doo-na, Kim Sang-ho, Kim Sung-kyu, and Kim Hye-jun feature in it. Kim Seong-hun directed the whole first season and the first episode of the second, with Park In-je directing the rest of the season.


Kingdom is a political thriller that takes place in a fictitious, medieval-inspired Joseon (modern-day Korea) in the 16th century, three years after the conclusion of the Imjin War. The plot revolves around Lee Chang (Ji-hoon), the Crown Prince of Joseon, who seeks to explore the mystery disease that has suddenly afflicted the King, only to find himself in the midst of a terrible pandemic devouring the Kingdom of Joseon. While battling the epidemic, he must also prevent his political opponents from capturing the crown.
