After two years, Production I.G continued to release the second season of the Koukaku Kidoutai series called Koukaku Kidoutai: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. Aired on Animax from January 2004 to January 2005, the series also received positive reactions no less than the first season.

Thanks to great cybernetic bodies and intelligent human brains, Section 9 ultimately discovered the one who caused these events was Kazundo Gouda, the head of the Cabinet Intelligence Service.
