He is a brilliant investigator who was brought in to unravel the mystery surrounding the peculiar demise of every prisoner in Japan. He definiely qualifies as one of the anime characters who deserve their own show.

L keeps to himself and interacts with the outside world solely through his aide Watari. He never presents his face to the public; instead, he uses a capital "L" in the "Old English MT" or "Cloister Black" typeface to stand in for himself. L is incredibly brilliant, but many people doubt his talents after seeing him because of his unkempt and lazy demeanor, which conceals his strong deductive abilities. L is incredibly conscientious and analytical, and he has a tendency to question everything that is supplied to him.

Despite his extraordinary intelligence, he has a few peculiar likes and behaviors. Along with these oddities, he only eats sweets, crouchs rather than sits, and uses only his thumb and finger to handle objects. In addition, he sits in an odd manner—placing both of his feet on the chair. The fans still adore L in spite of everything.
