The La Sportiva company was founded in the Trentino Alto Adige region in about 1920. Narciso Delladio, who initially started off as a shoemaker, was its founder. He actually made completely handmade wooden clogs as a specialty. Another significant achievement followed in 1940 when the business was granted a patent for developing a specific style of shoe lacing. From there, the business started making an increasing number of shoes and boots while focusing on outdoor apparel and accessories.
