Land Diving Nagol Festival
Land Diving Nagol Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Vanuatu. Land diving, the original bungee jump, is a rite-of-passage celebration that requires indigenous males to leap off a wooden structure while wearing vines wrapped around their ankles. The goal is for the vines linked just before the jumpers strike the ground to pull them up. It's a traditional manner of honoring the gods and ensuring a good yam crop.
Visitors can discover the raw beauty and rich culture of Vanuatu's small islands on this five-day adventure that includes the Indigenous people of Pentecost Island's famed land diving ceremony. Leave Port Vila's resorts behind and fly to rainforest-rich islands, where you may meet people, immerse yourself in nature, and experience genuine adventure travel. Be awestruck by the Land Diving Nagol Festival celebration, Melanesia's original bungee jumping, dubbed "the most spectacular ritual in all of Melanesia," and gain an understanding that few tourists obtain.
