Lindt & Sprüngli
Lindt & Sprüngli was founded in 1845 when confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann had an idea to make chocolate. Since then, Lindt has become the first solid chocolate brand in Switzerland and brings the finest of chocolate bars to millions of people worldwide.
In 1879, he succeeded in improving the moderate quality of the chocolate of the time by developing the mixer, a device that stirred vertically to give a finer consistency and let unwanted odors evaporate. He was also one of the first chocolate makers to add cocoa butter to the finished chocolate. These two innovations have greatly contributed to the improvement of the quality of Swiss chocolate.
