Lingoda

Lingoda recruits C2-level English, French, Spanish, and German teachers to teach English, French, Spanish, and German online. Classes are 60 minutes and have 1-5 adult students. There are no minimum hours required, a teaching certificate but no degree is required, and teacher satisfaction is high; however, pay is rather low and bookings are first come, first served. The headquarters of Lingoda is in Berlin, Germany. They serve students from all around the world, with the majority living in Europe.

The Lingoda wage is from €7-11 per hour (US$8-13, depending on the exchange rate) and varies significantly according to a teacher's location, language, and qualifications. If a student does not show up or cancels within 48 hours of a class, teachers are still paid 50% of their Lingoda rate. There are no minimum or maximum teaching hours needed with Lingoda. While the firm prefers that its teachers work at least 5 hours per week, this is not written into the contract, and there are no penalties if you do not meet this requirement. You can 'pause' your account for longer periods of time away from teaching. Lingoda allows you to book classes in both the short-term (hours in advance) and long term (months in advance). Because these are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, you must log in and check the listings on a frequent basis to secure more classes.
