Los Tercios Waterfall

It is undoubtedly worthwhile to travel to the charming town of Suchitoto and see the Los Tercios Waterfall if you intend to spend some time in the central highlands of El Salvador, which are located several hours north of San Salvador. This location is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in El Salvador.

The beautiful rock formation that the water cascades over at the Los Tercios Waterfall is what makes it so well-known, not the water trickling down it. Everyone who visits the Los Tercios Waterfall usually talks more about the rocks than the waterfall itself because the waterfall's face is made up of stone blocks that are partially covered in green algae.

From Suchitoto town, accessing the Los Tercios Waterfall is simple. After a brief ride in a cab or bus, the climb to the waterfall will take you around an hour. The trail is clear, but it is not appropriate for young children, the elderly, or those who are afraid of heights. You should wear sturdy footwear because, depending on the weather, the path may be slippery and rocky.

Once you're at the waterfall, it's difficult to believe the rock formations were formed naturally; they appear to be works of art. Depending on the season, it may not always have water flowing down it, so if you visit during the dry season (Nov. through April), you might only see the rocks.
