Magic Johnson was one of the most famous players in professional basketball. In the 1980s, he won five NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers.
"Magic" Earvin Johnson is a former Los Angeles Lakers standout. Magic Johnson was a great of his generation as a Laker, winning five championships and three Finals MVP awards. Basketball was his first love. Johnson's Everett High School squad won the state championship in 1977. He earned the moniker "Magic" for his passing and ball-handling abilities. After that, he went to Michigan State University. Michigan State defeated Indiana State University, a squad captained by future Boston Celtics player Larry Bird (1956–), to win the national college basketball title in his second year. Johnson was named Most Valuable Player after scoring twenty-four points.
He retired in 1996 and has had a lot of success with his business activities. Johnson formed Magic Johnson Enterprises, with Sony Pictures and Starbucks as partners. Johnson maintained his dominance in sports by becoming a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012, after acquiring the franchise for a record-breaking $2 billion.
