The Mauritius Institute of Education - one of the best universities in Mauritius - was established through the MIE Act 1973, subsequently amended in 1984. The MIE was set up with three main mandates, namely Teacher Education, Curriculum Development, and Research, which are still the same today. Curriculum materials include National Curriculum Framework, Primary School Textbooks, Extended School Programme Textbooks, Secondary School Textbooks, and Other Documents.


Officially recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Mauritius, Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) is a coeducational Mauritian higher education institution. MIE offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor's degrees in several areas of study. MIE also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, online courses, and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
