University des Mascareignes
University des Mascareignes (UDM) is the fourth public university in Mauritius. This new tertiary institution is under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education, and Scientific Research. Founded in 2012 after a merger between the IST (Institut Supérieur de Technologie) of Rose-Hill and Swami Dayanand Institute of Management (SDIM) of Pamplemousses, UDM has some 1,100 students that are currently enrolled in various courses.
The University des Mascareignes provides broad-based training to students to fit perfectly into the service sector of the Mauritian economy in business-related activities such as International Business Transactions, Distributive and Retail Operations, Financial Services, Shipping, Company Operations, Managing Information Systems, and ICT operations. A partnership agreement was signed on February 12, 2013, in Limoges on the creation of a francophone university "l’Université des Mascareignes" in Mauritius between the President of the University of Limoges and the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius. The bulk of the degrees awarded at the Université des Mascareignes is dual degrees with the Université de Limoges. Lecturers from the University of Limoges regularly deliver certain programs at the Université des Mascareignes, mainly in Master's programs or as co-supervisors for theses.
