May aid weight loss
Despite their high-calorie content, macadamia nuts may aid with weight loss. This may be explained in part by their high protein and fiber content, two nutrients known to suppress appetite and enhance feelings of fullness. According to research, some of the lipids in nuts may persist in the nut's fibrous structure after digestion. As a result, macadamia and other nuts may have fewer calories than previously assumed. In one three-week trial, 71 young Japanese women had bread with 10 grams of macadamia nuts, coconut, or butter every day. The macadamia group shed 0.9 pounds (0.4 kg) towards the conclusion of the research, whereas the other groups maintained their weight.
Macadamia nuts are also high in monounsaturated fats, particularly the omega-7 lipid palmitoleic acid, which may help prevent weight gain. Obese mice fed high-fat diets with considerable volumes of palmitoleic acid-rich macadamia oil had much fewer fat cells than those given no of this product after 12-week research. However, whether macadamia nuts have the same advantages in people is unknown.
