May Benefit Metabolic Syndrome
A metabolic syndrome is a group of symptoms that include extra abdominal fat, elevated cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Metabolic syndrome raises your chances of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and dying for any reason. Purple carrots contain anthocyanins, which may help decrease cholesterol and blood sugar levels, both of which are indications of metabolic syndrome. Purple carrots have been shown in animal experiments to reduce various symptoms linked with metabolic syndrome.
A meal high in purple carrot juice reduced or corrected all metabolic-disease-related symptoms in rats, including fatty liver, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and heart muscle stiffness. Another 8-week trial found that rats with metabolic syndrome who were fed a high-fat diet supplemented with purple carrots had lower blood pressure and insulin resistance than rats in the control group. Although these findings are encouraging, additional human research on the impact of purple carrots on metabolic syndrome is required.
