Maya Bay
Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi, one of the world's most beautiful islands, is encircled nearly entirely by massive limestone monoliths. The aerial view of the beach demonstrates why this place was chosen as the setting for Leonardo DiCaprio's film The Beach. Even though it is likely to be packed with guests and longtail boats when you go, the steep hills that surround the sea make it feel like a private sanctuary.
Because the bay is a vast reef, you will observe numerous tropical fish - snorkeling is a favorite activity here. The optimum time to visit is during the peak tourist season, which runs from November to April and when the seas are calm. Unless you wish to remain in Phuket and take the ferry to the island, you can stay along the bay at the SAii Phi Phi Island Village or Paradise Pearl Bungalows for a modest national park entry fee.
