Mel Gibson has become one of the biggest movie stars in the world after a series of very successful films such as Braveheart and Lethal Weapon. But over the past few years, he has been unkind to the actor, with allegations of racism, homophobia, alcohol abuse, domestic violence and anti-Semitic remarks. The situation worsened in 2009 when his wife Robin filed for divorce from her after seeing a photo of her with Russian singers Oksana and Riyeva. She obtained a settlement equal to half of Mel's fortune, valued at $425 million. In one of Hollywood's most expensive divorce cases, Mel and Robin Gibson ended their marriage in 2011. They divorced after nearly 26 years of marriage.


At the time of the divorce, Mel's net worth was approximately $850 million. As a result of the divorce, about half of his fortune was given to Robin as part of the divorce settlement. Like most celebrities, they never signed a prenuptial agreement, resulting in huge settlement costs.
