Menton Lemon Festival
Held over weeks in February, the Fête du Citron (Lemon Festival) celebrates all matters citrus withinside the city of Menton. More than 200,000 people are surprised by the colorful floats and sculptures made out of lemons and oranges. During the daytime, parades of fruit-protected floats make their manner by the streets as wind musicians, acrobats, and drummers entertain the crowds. And come nightfall, 10-meter-excessive whimsical statues and fashions crafted from citrus fill the picturesque Biovès Gardens.
During this celebration, there are parades of floats, interspersed with marching bands and costumed entertainers, much like every other carnival parade. But there’s one massive difference – all the floats are products of lemons and oranges. It’s an all-herbal and fresh change. But the actual show-stopper is the exhibition of huge citrus fruit sculptures withinside the Biovès Gardens. Some of those figures may be up to ten meters tall and use as much as 15 lots of fruit.
