With gorgeous decor, courteous competent service, and an extensive Italian-style menu, Mercato is one of Valdivia's greatest restaurants. Begin with the onion soup, which is quite tasty. Then, for the main course, order the grilled lamb chops with rosemary roast potatoes, followed by tarta tatin for dessert. Many tourists have recommended that delicious dinner! The service is courteous and prompt. For couples, families, or small groups of friends, I highly suggest it. Also noteworthy is the dessert menu. The Tibia, served in a caramelized sugar shell with cold in-house chocolate ice cream, red berries in liqueur, and a wonderful warm chocolate soup, is comparable to delicacies found in Manhattan or Paris.
